Michael Young, M.D., M.Phil.

Neurology Faculty

After completing my M.Phil in philosophy as a Gates Cambridge Scholar at the University of Cambridge focusing on ethical and philosophical issues in medicine and neuroscience, I obtained my M.D. from Harvard Medical School. I am now a senior resident in the MGH-BWH-Harvard Neurology program, and following residency will continue here as a Fellow in Neurorecovery. My current research with NICC focuses on ethical and philosophical issues in disorders of consciousness and neurorecovery, with particular interest in approaches to research and translation of novel neurotechnologies to detect and predict recovery of consciousness in patients with severe brain injury in settings of diagnostic and prognostic uncertainty.
