Marie Vitello, PhD

Post-Doctoral Fellow

Originally from Liège, Belgium, I graduated from the University of Liège with a master’s degree in Clinical Neuropsychology and a PhD in Neuroscience. During my training, I worked on the development and assessment of non-invasive neuromodulation techniques as potential therapeutic candidates for patients with severe brain injury.

I joined the Laboratory for NeuroImaging of Coma and Consciousness (NICC) in September 2026, where I continue to investigate the mechanisms of non-invasive brain stimulation. Here, my research focuses on brain–body coupling, particularly the relationship between brain activity and autonomic functions, and how these interactions may be modulated by non-invasive perturbations across different states of consciousness and in critically ill patients.
