Special Operations Forces Personnel

Active-Duty Operators & Veterans

Dr. Edlow and members of the NICC Lab are honored to collaborate with active-duty and veteran Service Members in the Special Operations Forces (SOF) community on a broad spectrum of research projects focused on civilian and military traumatic brain injury. A primary focus of this work is advancing knowledge about the effects of repeated blast exposure on the human brain and improving brain health care for the SOF community.

Collaborations between SOF Operators and NICC investigators are facilitated by partnerships with allied organizations, including the Navy SEAL Foundation, Invisible Wounds Foundation, and Special Operations Forces to School of Medicine (SOFtoSOM), which supports Operators during the transition from military service to medical school.

We do not list the names of the active-duty and veteran SOF collaborators with whom we work to respect the confidentiality of the “silent professionals” who serve at the tip of the spear.
